All about Minhee!

Hello!

My name is Minhee Park. I am an international student from Korea and have been in NY for 6 years now.

When I first moved to NY, I remember I cried for a week in bed because NY was very different from what I had seen in the movies. It was March, but still cold compared to the warm spring weather in Korea at the time. The streets were also so dirty and dark.

My original plan was to stay in NY just for a year to learn English and then go back to Korea as a better English kindergarten teacher. However, my plan changed.

Summer came and I saw the beauty of NY. I was going to school, working at a restaurant at the same time, and I started to meet many people with a variety of different backgrounds. I saw the bigger world through these people and realized that there were many things I hadn't seen or experienced.

After a year, I wasn't ready to go back to Korea. I wanted to learn more about the world and experience more new things. I went into Laguardia Community College and graduated with a Liberal Arts major. I wasn't sure what I wanted to, but I was sure that I didn't want to go back to be a kindergarten teacher any more.

While I was working at the restaurant, I had the opportunity of being an assistance manager for 3 years. I learned to track inventories, create new menus, and most importantly, manage customers and employees. It was stressful but also a lot of fun. This opportunity made me think about attending a business program.

I transfered to Baruch last Fall and I expect to graduate next year with Marketing major. I am very excited to be here and am looking forward to graduating and applying my learnings in the real world.
